How GetPint collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data for users in Ireland, the EU, and the UK.
Who controls your data
GetPint operates GetPint and the PintWatch Ireland data index. For privacy questions, corrections, or data-rights requests, contact [email protected].
What we collect
- Account and session identifiers, including anonymous account IDs and third-party sign-in details if you choose social sign-in.
- Price submissions, drink type, pub, timestamp, verification status, source, and the user ID linked to the submission.
- Reviews, tags, display names, points, and leaderboard information where you use those features.
- Receipt images, OCR text, extracted receipt fields, selected pub context, and verification metadata when you upload a receipt.
- Optional browser location coordinates after you choose to use nearby features.
- Technical logs, security events, IP-derived hosting data, and analytics pageview data where analytics consent is given.
- Emails and message content when you contact us, request corrections, or opt in to future email updates.
Why we use it
- To run the service, maintain sessions, accept submissions, verify receipts, and show pub price data.
- To prevent spam, abuse, duplicate submissions, and suspicious price reports.
- To correct pub listings, improve coverage, and keep the public price index useful and current.
- To provide optional nearby features after browser permission.
- To measure site performance and usage only where optional analytics are allowed.
- To answer contact, correction, press, and data-rights requests.
Lawful bases
We rely on contract or steps before contract for account and submission features, legitimate interests for security, moderation, fraud prevention, corrections, and the public price index, consent for optional location features, optional analytics and marketing email, and legal obligation where the law requires records or action.
Who we share data with
We use trusted processors and infrastructure providers to run authentication, database, storage, hosting, email, analytics after consent, security, and receipt verification services. They process data only where needed to provide those services for GetPint.
Some providers may process data outside Ireland or the EEA. Where that happens, we expect appropriate transfer safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or equivalent contractual protections.
Public submissions
GetPint is a public price index. Approved prices, pub names, drink types, timestamps, verification status, tags, reviews, and aggregated statistics may be shown publicly. We avoid publishing direct account identifiers and use display names only where the product feature calls for it.
Retention
We keep submissions and aggregate price data while they remain useful for the public index. We keep account, profile, and security data while needed to run the service. Receipt images should be kept only as long as needed for verification, disputes, security, or legal reasons, with structured verification metadata retained where raw images are no longer needed.
Your rights
You may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to processing, port data, withdraw consent, and complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission. See the GDPR rights page for the request process.
